The Philippines : A Humorous Society

The Filipinos are known for their resilience. No matter how difficult the ongoing situations in their lives, they always find a way to escape the tension and the pressure. I think, I can compare the Filipino to a coconut tree. Other than being a tree of life, the coconut has the ability to withstand even the hardest storm, because it sways with the wind that prevents its trunk from being broken, like the bamboo tree; but unlike the bamboo tree, the coconut is a "bright" tree... the Filipino is a bright race, madiskarte, matalino, tuso, malikhain, matiisin, matyaga,  mayabang pero may ibubuga, and most of all, sagana siya sa sense of humor.

Let us cite some proof of this:

The Filipinos has so many internet sensations featuring not just looks  but talents as well.
Filipinos love making selfies.
The gay lingo inventions,
The love advises gurus that lightened the love, courtship and marriage dilemma and made moving on an exciting phase in every ending relationship
to name a few.

The Filipinos also found humor in this tension-filled campaign of Duterte's government against illegal drugs. It is not easy to be a resident living in a drug-laced community. The thought of overtime at work makes me uneasy, Fear occupies my mind. So I have to bring a balisong with me.Its noteasy to learn that a floating body is found in the river, or a along the roadside. One cannot avoid thinking, what if you can be mistaken to a drug addict or a pusher? Omg, so many uncontrollable thoughts about whats happening in the country now.

We all share this common feeling. To ease out the feeling of tension, some Filipinos created "love hugots" or punchlines about love in this political drive in the country. Honestly, reading these hugots made the situation lighter to bear. See, how loving the Filipinos are.

Here are 10 extrajudicial vocabulary words ,(which I prefer to call them that way) I commonly found in the social media,

1. (  Extra judicial Killings  ) Extrajudicial Feelings - When one person projects infatuation onto another without their consent or agreement.
in short, girlfriend ka niya pero hindi mo alam.

Here's one news that PUP students in contrast to extrajudicial killings I found in facebook that earned comments " relate ako dyan"!

2. Buy Bust Operation - When one person gives a lot of gifts and "suhol" to entrap your heart.
3. (Vigilante) Vigilandi - when you make sudden the moves because due process is too slow for you love.
4. (Surrender) Surrendear - when one finally  gives in and declare that you love him/her too.
5. (bureaucracy) Bureaucrazy - young admirer mong baliw na baliw sa iyo
6. (Duterte) Dutertorpe - Yung dinadaan mo na lang sa joke 'yung nararamdaman mo.
7. (Bato Dela Rosa) Pusong Bato Dela Rosa - when you appear to be tough na parang walang nararamdaman pero in reality kilig na kilig ka!
8. (cardboard) careboard - when he/she cares about you too much, its almost boring!
9. Entrapment Operation - Operasyon ng na trap sa pag-ibig ng nakaraan. Di maka move on.
10. Summary Execution - kapag pinatay niya ang inyong pag-iibigan ng walang due process, walang dahilan at walang due notice.

Now can you use them in a sentence?

Humor-izing your difficult situation reinforce endurance and strength to withstand any trial of life. It will also give an adrenalin surge to think properly in times of crisis and survive.

Lets play with words!
